I’ve left Finland now. You can view my final photos. Here are a few of my favorites…
The girls headed for the bus.
What is wrong with this photo? Can you find Waldo?
I finally got to see another sunrise. They take forever, so I couldn’t wait around for the perfect photo. I was driving to Helsinki Airport to leave. Pulled off the highway to take some pictures. Obviously, you have to leave Vierumäki to see the sun! It was absolutely fabulous though. Cotton candy pink clouds, baby blue sky. When you could see the sun through the clouds on the horizon, it was flaming orange. I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful scene to end my trip to Finland.
The second round with The Blues was a much better game. If the first 10 minutes of the game were excluded, it would have been very close. The girls were all much more aggressive this time and really played offense as well as defense. Still wish they had won, but it was exciting anyhow.
More photos of the game.
For one of the off-ice practices, the team did communication building games. It was mainly a way to have them get something done without getting hurt and give them a chance to rest before a big game. It was a lot of fun to watch. The girls are good at the telephone game, so a variation was played where they had to mime a word or phrase while everyone else is turned around. Then the people who have gone can watch the next pair and laugh. The girls finally started acting like girls. The game was played well after practice was over. I even played once!
They are really a great group of kids. They work hard and play hard. They have a lot of fun with each other when they aren’t in practice. Regretfully, I didn’t get any pictures of the snowball fight they had before the game.
