Got up early yesterday so that we could make a 1430 twilight tee time in Oahu. We were slow, but we made it to the 13th hole just in time for sunset.
Seriously, my life doesn’t suck.
Golf Buddy M took a video of that par shot. She says that next time she will follow the ball. ;-)
Played golf this morning with Golf Buddy M and her friend. I would have had a bogey on my first hole if I didn’t count the first bad tee shot that I redid. I made par on the last two holes. The 17th hole is 97 yards, so I was on the green with an 8 iron and then two putted. The 18th hole is 148 yards. I used my 4 iron. It was an amazingly beautiful shot, up in the air, and landing on the green just feet away from the hole as you can see…
Sadly, I two putted again or else this would have been my first birdie. Still waiting for that.
I tried Golf Buddy M’s driver on two holes. It went amazingly straight, but I still need to figure out how to get it to go up in the air and get some distance. At least I didn’t have to go fish any of my new pink balls (to go with my pink bag!) out of the bushes!
This round’s Scorecard results. I’ve found a few bugs with the software, but they said they’d try to fix them soon.
On the last hole, Golf Buddy M told us about being on the course one day when her buddy asked, “Is this the last hole?” She turned around and said, “No, you’re an asshole!” =)
And before I forget, on Tuesday during league, we played with Indian Jimmy. Little did we know that the father of one of our league players is famous on YouTube! As a side note, his name is Indian Jimmy because he rides an Indian Motorcycle as you can see here.
And I got a bogey and two pars! My other holes all sucked, but there is hope for me yet. I won’t be going pro anytime soon, but with more practice, I should at least be able to play a round without embarrassing myself completely.
To help me keep track of my progress, I’m trying out an iPhone/Mac app: Scorecard. I enter data on my phone as I play.
Then sync it with my computer. Then I can export my round to a web page so that you all can critique what I’ve done.
And to make the day slightly better, I tried to pay for my clubs today, but the guy was out on the course. When I got in, he was already gone. So I’m still playing with free clubs. I’ll have to pay eventually because he is holding my sand wedge hostage. Luckily, it was unnecessary today.
I took them to the driving range this evening. The ball was flying! Sometimes in the wring direction, but I'll get better. They just feel
so great when I swing them.
And yes, I got a pink bag. It is the lightest one around at 3.5 lbs. Sadly the clubs are blue instead of pink, but still pretty with little flowers on them.
After all my religious spewing this week, I just got back from golfing. Yes, I snuck out of work early to borrow Golfing Buddy K’s Jewish fiancé to play nine holes at Deep Cliffs. After which, we were randomly invited by an ex-lawyer, now CPO to partake in some punch. He’d left his corporate job where we work to be CPO—Chief Parental Operator—for their twin 3 1/2 year old boys. Not very well paying, but very rewarding. And disappointing since he was cute and had potential. He was there to play night golf with his two lesbian friends who not only were from the Boston area, which automatically made us all friends because of my friend’s Red Sox hat, but have 2 year old twins after being artificially inseminated by California doctors. One partner donated the eggs, the other carried the kids.
And to top it off, they are both of Irish descent and tell stories just like I do. =)
Oh, and I did get his email address. Just to play golf, I promise. They sometimes need a fourth and we all did have so much fun talking!
Due to frost. I guess it was only 38˚ when I walked the dog at 7 am. Last week we played in really thick fog. Probably won't play again until after the new year now.
Good—Evil. I’m trying to keep it balanced.

My golf shoes were the last pair of shoes that I bought from Dexter Shoes before they moved the factory from Dexter, Maine to China. Dexter is the town next to my home town. When the factory left, so did the jobs. The town keeps pressing on, but has never really recovered.

My iPhone has started taking Picasso photos again, but you can see the cracks in my shoe. They run all the way across the shoe. I guess I’ve probably had them for a decade now, so it might be time for new shoes.
Had a good conversation with Baby S when I got to work. Maybe I’ll write about it someday. The basic premise is that women have a hard time advancing in the tech industry because we hold ourselves back. It has a lot to do with the need to keep a balanced life. But at least she knows now that she isn’t alone.

I changed in the bathroom and left my Oakleys. Goodbye $120.
World 3: K 1
An hour later, I realized I didn’t have my sunglasses. They weren’t in the bathroom. The receptionist didn’t know anything about them. But the barista had them! Phew.

I’m learning tons at work, but I’m not getting as much done. Increased quality, decreased quantity. Need to have both increasing.

Gave a ride home to a friend.

This morning, I walked the dog at just the right time to run into the middle school kids waiting for the bus. I’m helping to organize a program to get middle school girls interested in engineering and I had asked the kids one day for some suggestions. They were interested in the program and wanted information on it. So I wrote down the URL on a sticky and have been carrying it with me when I walk the dog in the mornings. Finally gave it to them today. Hopefully there are still slots open.
