Touring the Mothership

Mom and I went to the new deYoung Museum today. It seems that the old deYong Museum was deemed unsafe after the last big earthquake. The new museum is a modern design by the renowned Swiss architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron and Fong & Chan Architects in San Francisco. Welcome to the Mothership.

We enjoyed the exhibit Hatshepsut: From Queen to Pharaoh and visited the photography and textile sections. I had wanted to skip the textiles, but then I saw a pretty cool dress collection, so we checked it out.

In the middle, we checked out the view from the top of the observation tower. Lucky for us, the fog was out today and the weather was actually clear, so the view was incredible. You can see the top of the golden gate bridge behind a hill, and a bit of the bay in the distance. I will have to go back later and see more of the museum.
