I went to the prom

You think I’m kidding. I never went to a prom. I’m not sure I even watched the parade of girls going to the prom when I was teaching. I avoid proms like the plague.

Well, I got sucked in. It was another situation similar to the zipline. I was cringing all the way. Saturday morning, I still hadn’t bought tickets online and then the website was gone. I was told that I could buy them at the door. Damn. So close. Then I didn’t have shoes to match the dress, so two hours before I had to be at dinner, and after driving back from the dog park in the city, I stopped by a shoe store and found shoes that I wasn’t even sure would match the dress I had. They did, perfectly.

I still wasn’t convinced. I had to get dressed up to go dancing? Seriously? Well, guess what? I had a blast. Seems a local radio station had a “2nd Chance Prom.” It was an evening of 80’s music and a show by Rick Springfield of “Jessie’s Girl” fame. He’s not bad to look at for someone who is nearing 58! (The photo is from his website, not one I took) For the concerts I’ve been to lately, he isn’t as hot as Madonna, but I enjoyed it more than Duncan Shiek. The April Fishes are still pretty cool too! =)

We all dressed up for the evening. My date even brought me a corsage! There were ten of us. We went out to dinner, and then to the prom. There were tables with balloons and a dance floor in front of the stage. We danced the night away to songs that you just can’t help but sing to.

The night was full of fun and laughs. Two of us even “rushed the stage” after Rick Springfield took a tour through the crowd. I’m hoping to get some of the pictures. Will share when I know where to find them. Until then, you will have to do with these pictures of me that I took when I got home. Needed proof that I occasionally do wear a dress. ;-)

I was wondering what you were going to do now that you can’t play at being a Waterbury socialite!

Only in silicone vally wear most people never went to the prom! Imagine trying to pull one of those off in Miami or LA. Never happen! ;)I’m glad you had a good time, it sounded like fun! :)
