Goodbye old friend

I cleaned out my desk tonight. I've done it six times before. It
really shouldn't be that hard. I know it is going to a good place.
Back to the person who built it with his dad when he was a kid.
Still, it is a lot harder than I expected.

I don't think I have ever cried over a piece of furniture before, but
this piece deserves it. For the last decade, it has lived in three
states, six different residences, and is the only piece of furniture
that has stayed with me this long. It has been with me longer than my
cats by a year. In every place I lived, I always knew where to find my
passport, checkbook, pen, calculator, camera, loose photos, and
current bills. There was a drawer for my every need. Until recently,
it also housed my computer on this cool, pull-out drawer.

Now my stuff is scattered throughout my condo and and I'm not sure I
will be able to find anything tomorrow, let alone months from now when
I need my passport.

Thank you for being there, old desk. It has been a wonderful
adventure, but it is time for you to go home.

Goodbye.

Not actually going to replace it. I was just using it for storage. I found better options of places to hide everything, although I may never find my passport again.
