Another one bites the dust

Two days ago, while walking Perl, I didn’t intervene fast enough. Usually I see the squirrels ahead. Usually she starts to point before chasing them up a tree. That didn’t happen this time. This time she just walked around the tree and it suddenly felt like I’d caught a gigantic bass on the end of my line. She was only four feet away. I reeled her in, but the damage was done. And she knew I was pissed. And I had to watch the Darwin Squirrel writhe in pain. It still wasn’t dead when we walked back by. Seemed to be mostly dead by the afternoon walk. Definitely dead by today.

If pets are like their owners, what does that say about me?

Perlie the Squirrel Killer. She is vicious. Poor perlie. I bet she sorta felt guilty for at least a couple minutes…
