Verizon Wireless Plans to Charge Senders of Text Messages – NYTimes.com

Verizon wants to start charging companies 3 cents for every text message it sends. This is absurd since Verizon subscribers are already paying for text messages they receive.

Dear Verizon, if you are going to charge companies for text messages, then the receiver had better get them for free. But of course you won’t do that, so companies will stop sending text messages. No more MySpace, Facebook, or Twitter. I hope your execs all have to go home and explain to their teenage kids how Daddy is trying to stop technology from progressing and completely ruining their social life all because Daddy wants a bigger bonus.

Good job, Verizon. Maybe your kids will forgive you someday, but you will probably lose a lot of subscribers in the meantime.
